Dear Subscribers and Delegates

Unfortunately, Edith Cowan University can no longer host the 7th World Journalism Education Congress. While this has been an unavoidable and regrettable turn of events, fortunately, the Council has found a new venue and host swiftly.

This means that:

  • 2025 WJEC will be held in San Francisco on August 8-10, 2025. The Location will be the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, 780 Mission Street, San Francisco, California 94103.

  • 2025 WJEC will be held parallel to and – as far as possible – in conjunction with the annual conference of AEJMC.

  • The theme of the congress will be: “Is it time to reboot journalism education?”

  • The programme will have the usual structure, with Plenaries, Paper presentations, Panels and Syndicates.

  • The deadline for submitting an abstract is extended.

  • The new deadline is:

31st of December, 2 p.m., San Francisco Time (PST).  Go to the abstract submission platform:  https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/WJEC2025

  • The call for Panels and the call for Syndicates will go out on the 6th of January 2025.

  • Registration will open mid-April 2025. The early bird registration rate (through July 15, 2025) will be approx. $290 USD, and the regular registration rate (after July 16) will be $340 USD. The fee covers all Congress activities, and also entry to the AEJMC Conference, but no coffee breaks and meals. Delegates will be responsible for their own housing and transportation.

  • More information can soon be found on the new website of the World Journalism Education Council: WJEC.info . Please go there regularly for updates.

Thank you
