Laura Glitsos

Co-Chair

Dr Laura Glitsos worked as a health and science writer and a music journalist in the 2000s. She has been lecturing across the Arts and Humanities for more than a decade with a focus on cultural studies, media studies, and journalism education. In addition to journal and chapter publications, she published her first sole-authored book titled Somatechnics and Popular Music in Digital Contexts in 2019.


In 2021, Dr Glitsos won the Rebecca Coyle Prize for publication from the from the International Association for the Study of Popular Music ANZ (IASPM-ANZ), which recognises the best journal article on popular music in the Australia-New Zealand region in a given year. She has published opinion pieces on popular culture for The Conversation, CNN, and The New Daily.


She was the Vice President of the Executive Committee for the Journalism Education and Research Association (JERAA) of Australia for 2022 and the Chair of the JERAA Perth Conference 2022.
